- the sad truth is that no movie that’s been hailed the superbad for the new generation has been brave enough to depict teenagers as awful and as messy as they really are. superbad resonated because we saw ourselves and our peers in those characters. movies nowadays are too nice!!Superbad was my high school movie, came out the year I was graduating, always been near and dear to me. A deeply personal film, feels like lightning in a bottle, and my gen is so lucky that they took a chance on it. Will there be more like it for future generations? I hope so
