    With great joy we announce the marriage of our son Jacob to his beautiful bride Emily. They were married today in Kampala. We look forward to attending a traditional wedding ceremony in northern Uganda hopefully around Christmas when travel is easier. Welcome to the family Emily!

    Introducing our grandson, Sulaiman Wallace Philpott - born early this morning in Kampala, Uganda.🥳 Jacob and Emily are the proud parents. Can hardly wait to get to Kampala in a few weeks to meet him! ❤️

    It grieves me to resign from a portfolio where I was at work to deliver an important mandate. I must abide by my core values, my ethical responsibilities, constitutional obligations. There can be a cost to acting on one’s principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them.

    Thoughts from a speech I wrote for caucus but was not able to deliver, April 2, 2019: It is healthy for democracy if MPs respectfully express different opinions. A party should be a safe place for MPs with dissenting views. MPs needn't agree with every decision of the government.

    Hey folks. It's possible to disagree with someone & even to have been treated unfairly by them, yet respond to them with grace, respect & human dignity. We need more civility, less hatred. More forbearance, less bitterness. Let's be a nation where people are kind to one another.

    It's an emotional day. Anyone who served Canada as head of government deserves thanks & respect. So, thanks @JustinTrudeau for your service. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to serve in the 42nd parliament. I'm proud of many things we accomplished in those days. Wish you well.

    We have so much work to do. Good for you @Puglaas for calling out the racism and misogyny that continue to dominate our political landscape. I struggle to understand how Canadians keep rewarding symbolism over substantive change.

    You taught me so much - particularly about Indigenous history, rights and justice. I’m proud of the laws we worked on together - C14 (assisted dying), C37 (harm reduction), C45 (public health approach to cannabis) and so much more. I know you will continue to serve Canadians.
