"Schizophrenia is too complex to screen for." That's what our client was told, so we whole-genome sequenced 7 relatives (incl one diagnosed with schizophrenia) and modelled the family history to analyze their three embryos in a way that's never been done before. Her results:

I’m so excited to share this update on @Conception – We’ve generated the first early human eggs derived from stem cells. This is a big deal -- the potential to redefine fertility is real.

Several family members had schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or depression, which put her children at much higher baseline risk. Our client was aware of this fact, and wanted to reduce that risk. She reached out to us after hearing about Herasight on a podcast. We whole-genome

Thank you so much for helping us choose which one to transfer next! This is our fourth Herasight-informed transfer—so cool. Here are the three who made it out! They send their regards :)

Had @JonathanAnomaly on the podcast to discuss @herasight and the ethics of selecting embryos for intelligence, height, and other traits. We get into radical life extension, and the broader philosophy of seeking ever greater control over biology. Jonathan shares a polarizing and

PGT embryo selection is here. But is the world ready? I interviewed Herasight co-founder to discuss selecting for IQ, disease risk accuracy, eugenics, fertility decline, DNA editing, autism, pronatalism, and why building better humans matters. Full episode:

Crazy new twist in this story: when she asked the doctor which embryo he would have picked without Herasight's screening, he pointed to the one with the lowest IQ. If they didn't have this data, their kid would have lost about 24 IQ points.

Herasight have invented a new type of preimplantation genetic testing, PGT-H. By selecting the embryo with lowest level of homozygosity, PGT-H can reduce the risk of abnormalities, intellectual disability, and infant death in offspring from consanguineous unions.

Today @herasight reveals PGT-H, a new embryo test that can help reduce disease risk in children from consanguineous couples. For first-cousin couples, we estimate intellectual disability risk of about 5% without screening, compared with about 2% in the outbred population.

We are very excited to announce PGT-H, a new form of genetic screening for couples with shared ancestry. We’ve been in talks with the health ministries of several Gulf states. If PGT-H were widely adopted, it would achieve large population health benefits.
