LayerZero has been acting in bad faith, and it's time to address this.
In mid-Sept I critiqued LayerZero's decision to use Google's centralized oracle as their default, particularly since they continued to market their service as "decentralized".

- Across just closed a new funding round. The timeline is noisy with markets, tariffs, and a lot of pain. But we’re heads-down building the infra to unify Ethereum. Bull or bear, this is what moves the needle. Unify Ethereum ⛺️⛺️Across is proud to announce a successful raise of $41M in a strategic token sale led by Paradigm (@paradigm) With participation from Bain Capital Crypto (@BainCapCrypto), Coinbase Ventures (@cbventures), Multicoin Capital (@multicoin), and Sina Habinian (@sinahab)
- Just bridged 0.1 ETH from Arb to OP. Across took 2 seconds and cost $0.097 Stargate v2 "fast" took 49 seconds and cost $0.174 Stargate v2 "cheap" took 83 seconds and cost $0.119 Across is WAY faster and cheaper than Stargate v2. Let's drop the false marketing, ok?
- Today @Uniswap integrated @AcrossProtocol in their web app, mobile app, and wallet extension. The integration is beautiful. You can now move ETH and stables seamlessly between L2s, with an average fill time of 3 seconds. And when @unichain launches, you'll be able to move in
00:00 - Had the pleasure of hosting @VitalikButerin for tea this week. We talked about intents ⛺️ and how standards for both chain-specific addresses and cross-chain intents (aka ERC-7683) can unify Ethereum. Spending this time with V unlocked some new thoughts on why intents are the
- Sometimes I am legit shocked at Bryan's level of delusion. At his suggestion I bridged 0.1 ETH from Arb to ETH. Across took 11 seconds and cost $8.14 Stargate v2 "fast" took 38 secs + cost $24.36 Sir $8.14 is less than $24.36!Replying to @hal2001Now do Arb to Eth! or any of the other pathways! I can see you tightening your spreads in real time as you realize you can't capture as much from users anymore with your filler 😂. It's fine man just focus on building can't believe how much time you spend reply guying
- I'm retweeting this to make sure that the max people possible understand that the SEC did not use two-factor authentication, despite suing many, many companies for similar cyber-security failures. We can confirm that the account @SECGov was compromised and we have completed a preliminary investigation. Based on our investigation, the compromise was not due to any breach of X’s systems, but rather due to an unidentified individual obtaining control over a phone number
- I created a shit coin💩: an ERC-20 token to track shit sightings in SF. In the last 30 days, there were 2927 (!!) shits reported by SF311. With @UMAprotocol we created a token that "profits" the more shit is reported. More on why this is *good* for SF 👇 poop.exchange
- Replying to @redhairshanks86 and @PolymarketHi, I'm the co-founder of UMA. I rarely respond publicly to criticism like this because I do not want to influence market outcomes. However there is some FUD here that should be addressed. First point I want to address is the accusation that "UMA whales" want to manipulate this
- Just shipped the Across Prime paper, a new design for a capital efficient trustless fast bridge authored with @danrobinson, @mrice32, and the @AcrossProtocol team. Across Prime aims to deliver the near instant speed of intent based bridges but with greater capital efficiency. 🧵
- bye bye Gary
- Is no one worried about the censorship and centralization risks a Google oracle creates for LayerZero? In this environment, it seems very easy for Gary to call up Google and say "hey guys, I'm going to sue you if you validate messages that touch this defi protocol". Or even
- Next week, UMA is launching something that will elegantly reclaim >$100m of free money lost each year to MEV.Each year lending protocols lose tens of millions of dollars to MEV. It's time to reclaim that value. 🥚
