Thanks to everyone offering condolences for the loss of my mother. I really appreciate the outpouring of love. She was one of a kind. We all endure loss like this in life. Thanks for celebrating her and appreciating her uniqueness. 🙏😭❤️
I’ve decided that there’s not much to be done about grieving the loss of a parent. I just miss my dad. And we bonded so much about food and cooking growing up. My profession only reminds me of the loss. It also inspires me to remember and honor him.
This man was somehow fatherly, comforting, wise, reckless, brilliant, wickedly funny & unique all in 1. My life will be lonelier without him. Love you Carl. I’ll make sure no one puts pineapple on pizza best I can without you here. 💔#rip@carlruiz
If you are friends with a chef or have a family member who is a chef, don’t give them knives, utensils, “life advice”, food or recipes. Give them a foot massage or send them to a spa for one. Give them hugs. Give them fresh doughnuts and espresso.
Remember how Carl would sometimes say “That’s it I’m leaving Twitter forever“? Then he would be back on 2 hours later with an update: a hotdog from somewhere special & a cackle of glee? Carl was a great cook & shared every moment of his life with us & I already miss it. #rip
I feel like everyone should be made to work in food service once to understand how hard it is to cook food, serve food and clean up. Of course I’d say the same about many far nobler fields too—emts, military, police, firefighters to name only a few.
