We just wrapped up the first Congressional hearing on #Bitcoin and its energy usage, and it’s been eye-opening to say the least.
In case you missed it, here are 5 key takeaways from the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on the environmental impact of Bitcoin:

60% of the total crypto market cap is Bitcoin.
Less than 10% of the total spending on crypto lobbying and education in DC is Bitcoin-focused.
That’s how we end up with situations like we’re in today.
Can confirm that the Harris campaign was offered MILLIONS of dollars from companies, PACs, and individuals who were looking for her to simply take meetings with key crypto stakeholders and put together a defined crypto policy plan.
The campaign never took the industry seriously.
There has been an accusation made on Twitter about another person in the Bitcoin space, and this accusation unfortunately referenced Bitcoin Policy Institute in the tweet.
@bitcoinpolicy is not meant to be involved in drama. This is not our battle.
Time to get back to work.
This should be a no-brainer, yet here we are. Witnesses like Brian Brooks and John Belizaire did a great job of defending #Bitcoin today, but we need other US mining companies and Bitcoin experts represented in these hearings in order to tell the full story around Bitcoin.

Good policy for bitcoin users is downstream of the US viewing bitcoin as a strategic asset, not a threat.
If the US holds 1 million BTC, it will then have a vested interest in ensuring that bitcoin users are protected and the technology is proliferated around the world.
