    We are deeply concerned about the situation in Gaza. We have lost contact with some of our Palestinian colleagues on the ground. We are particularly worried for the patients, medical staff and thousands of families taking shelter at Al Shifa hospital and other health facilities.

    Markievicz also spent a lifetime working for the poor, primarily in Dublin where she sold her jewellery & took out loans to run soup kitchens. The Free State government refused her a State funeral, the Irish people stepped in and honoured her accordingly. A truly amazing woman.

    On this day 92 years ago #CountessMarkievicz died. Poet, artist, patriot, suffragist, she risked her life for Ireland's freedom. 300,000 people followed her coffin along the streets of Dublin, to Galsnevin cemetery

    I’m so sorry to hear of the death of Rosaleen Sands, Bobby’s mother. Her courage, strength and dignity was an inspiration to me as a child in the 80’s, may she rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

    The absolute irony! ‘The Island’ was promoted all week by @rte, looking at the formation of the island of Ireland using geological evidence. Examining all 32 Co’s, a decision was taken in RTE to exclude 6 of those counties from watching it.
