    You can directly compare the response to Chernobyl with the response to the Bhopal gas leak two years earlier when gross industrial neglect in search of increased profit for a US company led to 22,000 deaths & 500k victims. There was no response other than let Bhopalis die.

    The fact Chernobyl was supposed to be a condemnation of totalitarian government but due to the fact it released just before Covid it ended up contrasting a flawed built effective and humanitarian response to a global disaster to whatever the fuck the west did in 2020. FHMR.

    I get back only occasionally now, but what I notice when I do is that it's always the same. It's Glasgow. It's never changed. It was Glasgow in the 90's in my pomp, it's Glasgow now. And another thing that hasn't changed is the media's mock horror demonisation of the city.

    It is not enough that Arday is dead, brought to suicide by a sui generis press campaign against an academic accused of plagiarism. It is necessary that the campaign continue after his death, that his loved ones find no peace nor solitude.

    This is a lie of course, hardly anyone outside academia knew who he was, he is being made out to be a "superstar" because the poster wants to undermine ethnic minorities in education and other fields.
