The healthcare system needs to do better All too often, physical therapy is seen as a “last resort” before surgery. It’s also not uncommon for people to have surgery, never once be referred to PT, and then come on their own years later because they’re still having problems.

When parents of young kids say they’re “just not athletic anymore” Yet they’re carrying around a 25# toddler, a 15# baby in a carseat, a diaper bag, and random toys for their kiddos like it’s nothing Y’all gotta give yourself a little more credit

Since starting my own PT biz, I’ve: ▪️learned a TON about SMB start up ▪️had time to read research to be a better clinician ▪️ had time & energy to work out consistently ▪️ had imposter syndrome 😶 Doing your own thing isn’t easy and isn’t for everyone, but man, I’m loving it

My 3yo sprained his ankle. I offered to give it a kiss and take a look at it and got hit back with a: “NO mommy, you’re not a doctor, you’re just a mommy”

If neck pain & tension got you down this Monday, give this a try (🧵) no need for equipment, just grab some clean laundry Cervical SNAGs (Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides) = neck stretch holding pressure at the apophyseal joints (joints between the vertebrae in your spine)

Slipped a disc in your back? Find the movement that is most comfortable for you right now, then repeat. For example, if leaning backward lessens the pain, then repeatedly stretch in that direction 10 times every hour or two. Doing the movement on 🔁 will help to reduce the bulge

LIFT WITH YOUR LEGS Most people have probably heard that advice but I can’t tell you how many people I’ve worked with who have been scared to reach for the floor. Maybe you’ve been told: ✨ “Don’t bend over, you’ll hurt your back again” ✨“Don’t lift anything heavy”

I was in my last year of physical therapy school when I had my first baby While I studied all about the body and how it heals — nothing prepared me for how my own body would feel after birth (🧵, 1/6)

Jaw popping, locking, clicking… All symptoms of TMD where your TMJ (aka jaw joint) isn’t moving properly I love starting with isometric exercises to help the jaw muscles relax Lightly press your into your thumbs 10x, holding 5s each rep. Repeat every hour as needed for pain

Achy joints in the cold? Try this: ✅ Heat: warm towel, hot pack, or bath to boost circulation ✅ Start small: gentle moves (ie walk or bike) ✅ Gradually increase intensity: build strength & ease pain with gradual motion Small steps = big relief! 💪 #JointPain #ColdWeather
