    this is a problem w happy people in general: - most people navigate life totally intuitively - on the surface it looks like everyone kinda does the same things (go to school apply for jobs date) but with VASTLY different results - our lives fracture along much more subtle lines

    the problems with dating discourse: - happily married people (usually) don’t spend their time arguing online about dating, so they’re a tiny fraction of the content you see. - most happily married people got lucky and are naturally happy marriage material, so what they do

    I also hate incompetence. I hate it in the only place I have any control over it: myself. It is deeply incompetent to outsource a task and then throw a tantrum when it isn’t done the way you would do it.

    being annoyed is the price you pay for community. it means having guests when you'd rather be alone. it means letting someone live with you even when they get on your nerves. it means showing up for events that you'd rather not go to. it means turning the other cheek.

    If I don’t give my mother constant little side quests she gets depressed and prone to drama. Chaos ensues. “Favors” I never asked for and actively dislike plague our relationship. Strange my father never arrived at this simple technique in 25 turbulent years of marriage

    No one talks about how being avoidant can benefit you in every relationship other than your romantic one because being easygoing and chill and non reactive and undemanding makes you fun and good to have around, and this is what avoidance (in its most well adjusted form) blesses
