The underlying story the DNC and Elias are trying to stop is consistent with observations of @evanwch in "Nothing Left". A lot of political fundraising tries to separate elderly people from their money.

i admit i have a perverse admiration for people who pull off the Long Con. (Vanity Fair used to have a specialty of catching and writing about folks who conned rich people.) But of course you have to check that emotion-- these stories (including this one) involve real victims.

What an essay indeed. "He conned them all; all it took was some South London street smarts [...] Now, in death, you want to shrink him down again. Domesticate him, turn him into another passive victim distinguished by nothing more than the colour of his skin."

Do conservatives actually hold these principles? How many conservatives refuse to say that Joe Biden won the 2020 election? Do they consider President Trump's and the party's demand that people don't say that to be totalitarian oppression?

“Wow it’s so weird that you conservatives have principles” This is the argument you want to make?
