Finished the speedrun — the world record stands to see another day but we broke sub 8hr!!! 🎉🎉🎉 14 trains, 2 buses, 1.2 miles of sprinting and 10 beltway crossings all in 7hrs 54mins! Thanks to @owenscrain for indulging me with his company today and everyone for the support!

Visited Loudoun Gateway for the first time this afternoon. After experiencing it myself, I can confidently say this station should never have been built. On the ride back to the city, I’ve been trying to “steelman” any plausible justification for this station but I’ve got nothing

Last transfer of the run — Taking Silver to Ashburn via Tysons and Dulles to finish the run. Will come in around ~7hr 50, barring any delays (🙏)

Tomorrow morning, me and my absolutely lad @owenscrain will be attempting the Metrorail Speedrun (visiting every station as quickly as possible). @ZachLincolnVA has the current record at 7h40m. We are trying a new route with a high risk/high reward. Hoping to break sub 8hr

Literally sprinted from Farragut North to Farragut West for the transfer (couldn’t get a photo that’s how fast) Headed west to Vienna to complete the Orange line (🟠). Then we will turn around to EFC and pray that silver will be fast enough. The whole thing will be very close…

Just barely missed the transfer at Vienna. This almost certainly kills any hope of breaking the record, but we are still gunning for sub-8hr. Currently 6hrs and 54mins at the moment

Why did the MIS recommend it? Basically, it admitted that it had poor development potential and wouldn’t have much ridership. But it justified its inclusion because “eh it doesn’t cost very much and we can deal with specific engineering details later” 🫠
