Glad to finally be able to share Atlas with the world last week! There's a lot of novelty under the hood. While Atlas is using Chromium, it's not built on top of Chromium in the usual way, which I think is pretty darn cool:

A really fun feature of Boosts 2.0 (launched today in Arc) is how easy it makes it to change the color palette of web sites. And color for me makes a big difference in how the web feels. Here’s a peek under the hood at how it all works!

Two big reasons we went with Chromium (and fun fact, early development was on top of WebKit): 1. Kind of amazing how much of the web, especially apps we use for work, depend on Chromium 2. Chrome Extensions, of course.

It's been a fascinating project bringing up Arc on Windows. Thanks to #pointfree's work on TCA, we've been able to readily share a remarkable amount of code across macOS and Windows using Swift -- all while building out a truly native UX powered by Win UI 3.

Couldn't be more excited about what @joshm and team at @browsercompany are building! We spend so much time in our browsers, take for granted how they work, and yet there's so much room for improvement. Super jazzed to help!

Surreal to share that one of the *co-creators* of Google Chrome (most recently their Head of Engineering) has joined @browsercompany as an Advisor! Darin Fisher (@darinwf) spent 16+ years taking Chrome from prototype to billion+ users: wired.com/2008/09/mf-chr… Welcome Darin!

There's a novel tabs treatment that we built that didn't make the cut to have as default. You should check it out. Would love to hear your take. Kind of like Arc's sidebar but still top tabs. It allows you to just browse without having to cleanup tabs, if that's your thing:

It's a good story. In reality we did work on firefox (performance, features and more) for nearly 1.5 yrs. The chrome prototype came together rather quickly, largely thx to apple opensourcing a windows port of webkit.

Instead we implemented this as a feature of the rendering engine, which made it much simpler and more performant. An optional color filter is applied to the painting of a subset of elements.
