Great to join Hannah on the @EverythingEpi podcast. We discuss what DNA methylation is, the importance of the circulating proteome and how these measures were integrated in my PhD to create new markers for disease prediction. @genscot @EdinUni_IGC

Episode 3 Spotify - open.spotify.com/episode/297OlY… YouTube - youtube.com/watch?v=p2HRjs… @dannigadd and I and I chat about the circulating proteome, how machine learning can be used to create epigenetic scores, and how information from the blood can be used to stratify risk of disease.

It has been fantastic to collaborate on this. For a detailed comparison of methylation vs polygenic risk scoring approaches and applications, check out our latest review @GenomeBiology.

Anyone living in Scotland can sign up and be part of @genscot - a project that will advance our understanding of disease prevention. Just a saliva sample through the post and a short questionnaire!

Differences in disease risk profiles reported here (in part c of the figure) for self report versus wearable activity levels - not surprising that wearables offer greater precision, but great to see so clearly

Thrilled to share NEW paper in @npjDigitalMed! We assessed #wearable accelerometer physical activity and risk of ~700 future diseases in @uk_biobank. ⬆️MVPA was a/w ⬇️risk of 367 diseases spanning the full spectrum Link: rdcu.be/cUPWU @broadinstitute @MGHHeartHealth

Really interesting work on neural health and sphingolipids - which have come up as blood-based markers of brain health with epigenetic signatures in our computational mapping too.

Incredibly excited to share our new manuscript on the role of complex lipids during aging!! Massive congrats to Xiaoai @xiaoaizh for a tour-de-force, and a huge thank you to all authors and collaborators! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
