Cursor is being opinionated about where they think SWE is going and I like it
It’s only been ~6 months but we’ve really sprinted from AI-IDE to CLI to background agents as the UX for AI driven development
Most folks will still prefer CLIs for the next 2-3 months, but very clear
The new link experience on X is actually insane? Super snappy, doesn’t take you out of it, and it feels like it’s super obvious in hindsight
Last time I felt this way about a consumer product UX was snapchat’s swipe to switch views
Incredible work by @nikitabier and the @X team
Anthropic has had the most significant AI product contributions for a lab by a long shot, almost charitably
Artifacts (text to app), MCP, Claude code (CLI) — they’ve innovated and created entire product sectors, and billion dollar companies are modeled after their creations
Quick thoughts on Cursor
1. Composer is the first model that I’ve used that felt intentionally *crafted* for a person doing a specific type of work (coding)
2. In hindsight we’ll all look back in awe at how a company productized and “branded” the tab key
3. I’m rooting for them
We've raised $2.3B in Series D funding from Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Thrive, Nvidia, and Google.
We're also happy to share that Cursor has grown to over $1B in annualized revenue and now produces more code than any other agent in the world.

Current takeaways from first 6 months living in NYC after having lived in SF:
- NYC rent is step function more expensive than SF on a value basis
- NYC is a better food city outside of Viet and Mexican food
- NYC is 10x more walkable
- Moving back to SF feels inevitable

In hindsight, absolutely nuts that a single startup (clubhouse) was able to get even the product teams at slowest/largest companies to ship clones at breakneck/historic pace (twitter, slack, etc)
