See I rlly enjoyed this scene because it shows how Joel is still stuck in 2003 + he is dealing with teenage behavior for the first time. He didn't know what to think. He wasn't being homophobic. Let's have some perspective here please. It shows the growth in him.

idk if I'm just reading into this too much but to me, this is Lynch showing how Laura is only viewed as a sexual object to (mostly) all the people in her life. Her picture displayed for everyone to see. Bobby kissing the glass. People only saw her as THIS version.
