In addition to running @RtoVR, I also host the Inside XR Design video series with deep dives exploring key concepts that make great immersive content. See all the episodes here: geni.us/ixrd or read on for a summary of each to see if there's one you want to dive into.

Interesting little detail about the new Steam Controller... it has hidden IR LEDs so it can appear in VR when using it with Frame to play flat games. Cool to see Valve thinking about their products as an ecosystem more than individual devices.

Apple is adding a new feature to iOS that is designed to counteract motion sickness while looking at a screen in a moving vehicle. I'm very curious if they're thinking of the implications of this for VR experiences on Vision Pro.

There's a lot of cool tech in Vision Pro, but if you know anything about sewing, you'll know why the headstrap and cover are insane. As far as I can tell, this isn't multiple pieces of fabric cut out and sewn together... it's one continuous structure. They're getting different

Very cool (and almost *frustrating*) optical illusion. If you pause this video at any time, the shapes disappear. They exist *only* temporally, not visually. This is from Branta Games on YouTube (full video linked below)

The Steam Frame 'core module' is tiny, weighing in at just 190 grams. The core module architecture means this thing is going to get modded until the end of time. Sharing photos of a prototype with a translucent shell that's unfortunately not going to be commercially available 🥲.

There are two non-standard user-accessible ports on Frame. The top one carries power, audio, and USB data. The bottom one (hidden under the nose bridge) is a PCIe gen 4 interface which Valve says can support dual 2.5Gbps video feeds, which seems intended mostly for third-party

The thing VR needs the most right now is better games and software, not better hardware. VR will continue to plateau until that happens.

If I was Meta PR, this would be my pitch for Zuck’s video: 1. We‘re happy to have Apple join us in building the future of computing with XR. In 2014 people thought we were crazy when we bought Oculus. And now the world’s leading technology companies like Apple are following our

Just got hands-on with Apple Vision Pro. Detailed write-up coming tonight, but overall impressions are very positive all around. Pretty much best-in-class in everything (except gaming 😂). But that’s not too surprising give the price tag. People outside the XR sphere are going to
