Once a guy invited me over to his place and was like “I’ll make you dinner!”, so I go and ask what he made and he hadn’t made any dinner. He goes “oh are u hungry?”- A couple years ago I had an Indian climbing buddy who had to leave town cuz of visa problems. I offered to marry him so he could get a green card and stay. He said “no, I believe marriage should be for love”if you’re a Harvard student and your international friend has just been banned you should offer to marry them this summer. it’s a noble thing to do, and your prospects probably won’t get much better than they are now
- My mom tells me that when she and my dad were younger they would go to parties together and then debrief after. Like “I said this, it didn’t go very well.” Or “when so-and-so did this thing I didn’t know how to respond”. Then they would brainstorm about how to improve next time.
- Extremely under discussed in modern dating discourse: the low-body count, single, available woman who is just kinda socially awkward and shy and freaked out by the idea of anyone being attracted to her and has no idea how to get anything started

- 2 types of good romantic partner: ppl who won karmic lottery, were raised well and are emotionally secure naturally thru combo of good parenting and good temperament. And: ppl who grew up lacking, recognized it and worked to make themselves secure thru sheer force of will
- My parents partied when I was a kid. My mom invited all her neighborhood mom friends over at 4pm and they would get tipsy and play loud music and dance. Husbands would come pick everybody up around 5:30
