- During her visit to Ankara, von der Leyen announced €1 billion in EU funding to Turkey to support migration management and ‘voluntary’ returns of Syrians refugees. But what does this mean for those on the ground? /1Replying to @annastrolenbergYet Brussels continues to turn a blind eye, funding Turkey’s migration management with insufficient oversight, despite the well-documented human rights violations. /3The situation in Syria remains volatile, making it too soon to guarantee the safety of returnees. Von der Leyen’s new package adds to nearly €10 billion already provided since 2011. How much of this funding has protected rights and how much has contributed to their erosion? 4/4
- Women are fighting for freedom and everywhere they face misogynist attacks. This hurts more than women, it undermines democracy and polarises societies.
00:00 - Health experts from across Europe, including the @EPHA_EU & @ESOstroke have called on EU leaders to prioritize preventative policies for healthier, more sustainable diets. Their open letter highlights need for an EU action plan on plant-based foods . /1The groups are urging EU policymakers to focus on improving food environments and steering the market towards healthier, sustainable products. With €700B of healthcare funds spent on diet-related diseases, investing in prevention could save lives and money. /2We fully support these calls for a more inclusive and health-focused food and agriculture policy in the EU. It’s time to prioritize long-term health, sustainability, and focus on plant-based diets to reduce the burden on our healthcare system. 3/3
- Just one day after the regime's fall in Syria, 🇦🇹🇳🇱🇩🇪🇧🇪🇮🇹🇬🇷 rushed to suspend Syrian asylum applications— with Austria going so far as to announce a deportation plan for Syrians. This decision is premature.Syria is far from stable. Years of war and political instability can’t be erased overnight. Suspending all ongoing asylum applications and halting future ones leaves thousands in legal limbos and expose many to risk of human rights violations.

Onze uitleg 👉🏼The 5 Volt MEPs decided to vote for the new EU government of @vonderleyen It wasn’t an easy decision. And it’s a big responsibility. That’s why we want to be once again 100% transparent about our considerations. Here are our pros & cons 👇🏽
- On International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we demand a world where every woman can live free from fear—both offline and online. Let's end all forms of violence, including digital abuse, and empower women everywhere
00:00 - The detention center in Gjadër (Albania): the most expensive waiting room ever. A visit made clear the Italy-Albania deal is nothing but a political scam. Meloni might flex her muscles, but her deal will bring zero solutions. A thread:
00:00Replying to @annastrolenbergImagine if the reserved money - 1 billion for 5 years - would be spend on better reception facilities in Italy, on improving asylum procedures and on integration… That would have been a real solution. /7Politics fails when simplified solutions are presented to solve complicated matters. This is what we see happening. This deal is everything but a good blueprint for future EU migration policies. 8/8
