my advice for undergrads: grinding >> grifting
"$10M by 30 is no longer enough!" a recently graduated Stanford friend told me he’d been hearing this from others in his class. I’m noticing a concerning trend: elite college students are paranoid...

the hidden risk of a strong work ethic is that you undervalue your time. you’ll grind through problems that don’t matter or miss smarter, faster paths because you've always been willing to suffer. after realizing this, i started telling myself to be lazier.

i think a lot of spotty comms & flakiness is just perfectionism - well-intentioned but relationship-killing. you withdraw because you can't show up at 100% all the time. but consistency matters more. better to be present at 60% than not there at all.

"Women should get married younger and have more kids to increase TFR" is not a convincing argument. It's like telling someone "be more productive at work so you can increase the GDP of the US," lol. Most people aren't so abstractly motivated.

at 22, heartbroken after my first breakup, i binged subreddits like r/ExNoContact & cried to my friends. If i’d had LLMs, i would have dissociated w/ personal fanfic on how he must be pining for me, our eventual reunion, etc. not getting tough love from a community, seems bad.
