As my friend reminded me, please recall that Disney advertised Aladdin on the back of Robin Williams as Genie (something Williams explicitly did not want to happen) and now every fucking animated movie in the USA has to star celebrities instead of voice actors

Discussing value of dubs: 1. It’s a time issue (we don’t work 40 hour weeks like everyone else) 2. It’s a labor issue (we are indeed forced to match timing and work, you cannot just “talk” or joke around) 3. It’s a training issue (people often spend a lot on classes/degrees)

I started voice acting in 2011. I was not in a paid videogame until 2013. Two years of work. I was not in an anime until 2021. Ten years of work. I did not get an agent until 2023. TWELVE years of work. These things take time. It’s okay to go at your own pace w/ your goals.

Let me also preface, for others, and ALSO for myself: It's not the end of the world if you aren't there yet. If you're not in anime, or in big games like Genshin, or have an agent, or ANYTHING of that sort. It's all a step that takes time, and everyone's path is different.

We go into the little box to make silly voices. Some people, usually impressionable people, usually young people, get really attached to the characters we play. We as voice actors enjoy a little bit of celebrity, a little bit of power with these people. Don’t abuse that.
