As a public defender who has myself experienced childhood/young-adulthood trauma, I'm smacked in the face daily by the realization that the "resilience" I have spent my whole life being praised for is not much more than access to resources and a whole lot of grace.

When your position is both “People who can’t afford to go to college shouldn’t take out loans to do it” and “People who do jobs that don’t require a college degree shouldn’t be paid a living wage” it kind of starts to seem like you just want to keep poor people poor.

Today at my office I ran into a guy with a service dog getting off the elevator, and the dog beelined STRAIGHT to my side. Me: Oh, he’s so sweet!!! Can he tell if people are stressed? Person: He’s a PTSD dog. Me: 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Just walked to the grocery store at 10 PM and saw a disgruntled father walking out with his teen daughter, who was holding a tri-fold poster board and looked harried. Pray for this family.

One time a TSA agent yelled at me for trying to take my shoes off, as if I had just shown up and done some ridiculous and socially unthinkable thing as opposed to the thing I’ve been required to do every time I’ve flown since I was like 12 years old.

Not to “when I was a kid,” but when I was a kid we all had cell phones, many of them smart phones, and they were absolutely banned in class. That was a given and no big deal to anyone. Everyone lived. I am so confused about this discourse tbh.
