- Exactly why the US government should always be distrusted and declared as what it is: a criminal entity committed to keeping other countries poor. It's exactly what the Cold War was about. Presidents at the time were explicit about it, e.g. Nixon on why Chile had to be subverted.

- Replying to @ProustoevskyOr...you're missing the point. I don't think Seneca was undertaking a structural critique of society and thinking about elites and the poor. He was clearly talking about how we overthink and needlessly suffer as individuals on a personal basis which is undoubtedly true.
