My son has started tinkering around with RPG Maker last night. He already made a super small game with companions, funny little dialogues, a decent story, and even a cool boss fight. I'm proud and slightly scared. (I started out there myself, with RPG Maker 2000.) 🥹🥹🥹

vanilla Bioshock still looks amazing, mostly because of the art direction. Yes, the gameplay is clunky and dated, but the atmosphere is still a banger. (and the whole opening hour is a top-tier in storytelling, worldbuilding, and game design) Almost 20-year-old game. Crazy.

So happy for games like Gloomwood, Fallen Aces, or Blood West, which are all retro-inspired, yes, but they all have their own identity and not just 1:1 copies of old titles we all know and love. This "retro-revolution" is one of the best aspects of the indie scene of this decade.

Ah, the best is when they play your game for half an hour, decide that it is not for them (totally normal), then refund it (still normal), and in the end, they leave a thumbs down review, saying: "it's a great game, but not for me." Classic.
