I will always wonder why @David_Ornstein jumped the gun about our interest. Made no sense leaking it so early when we didn't even know if we are going to start formal conversations. My idea is someone else would have leaked it and he decided not to wait it out.

Confirmed: Per Mertesacker will become the new Managing Director of Sport at DFB GmbH & Co. KG on January 1, 2027, succeeding Andreas Rettig, whose contract expires at the end of 2026. Mertesacker will be responsible for the national teams and the academy .
