- Today in north #Gaza, home after home flattened. I was next to a young boy as a strike whistled above us. He froze, eyes wide open. It hit nearby & he just stood there, paralysed by fear. What’s left for children here? Constant displacement, among constant unimaginable horror.
- Over 2 million people are trapped in this hell hole. They cannot escape. There is no way out. Bombing continues day & night. If it's not drones, it's strikes. If it's not tanks, navy fire. Every basic need deprived - food, water, healthcare, safety. When will this madness end.
- It’s rare to see buildings without damage or total destruction anymore. Any building fully intact stands out. Hundreds of thousands of homes & lives destroyed. Stories of children, mothers, fathers, even entire families still buried underneath rubble. Cities are now graveyards.
- No connection since 11am here in #Rafah and seemingly across most parts of #GazaStrip Came back online to learn one of my colleagues - who only just left #Rafah looking for safety - has been killed with his family in bombardments. There are no words. This is Gaza today.
- #Gaza Once again new evacuation orders: many of the thousands of families affected only recently arrived in the area, after other displacement orders in Khan Younis Through shattered windows, nothing but shattered homes & shattered lives. People trapped in this endless nightmare
- Mornings in #Gaza Day begins searching through trash piles for food & salvageable materials. Hours in line for water, if available. Children drag heavy containers through the sand. Return to a crowded shelter or bombed out building to try to hide from heat, diseases & strikes.
- Footage yesterday by my colleague @amra_ashraf shows more families fleeing, after continued Israeli strikes & bombardments in #Rafah Friends say “What's the point of moving yet again if we will be killed anyway?” People are dying inside. Everywhere they look, there is death.
- Yesterday, the vehicle I was in got shot at and luckily, only because of where I was sat, I was not harmed. It was a visibly marked @UN vehicle on a coordinated route. Our safety should not be down to luck. Journalists, civilians and humanitarians are #NotATarget#Gaza Heavy shooting from the Israeli Forces at a UN convoy heading to Gaza city. While there are no casualties, our teams had to duck and take cover. This took place yesterday. The teams were traveling in clearly marked UN armoured cars & wearing UN vests. One vehicle
- Images in Deir al-Balah #Gaza from my colleague @amra_ashraf show the extent of the latest forced displacement - as 650,000 people estimated to have fled #Rafah Makeshift shelters crammed together along beach & up to shoreline, as desperate families try to find space to survive.
- Everywhere you look, destruction. Driving through Khan Younis today, any remaining buildings are hanging by a thread. Huge craters along rubble filled roads, little hope for those remaining here. The familiar sight of desperate families sheltering in a destroyed @UNRWA school.
