    Terribly sad news this evening that Pat Smullen has passed away. Nine times champion jockey and an inspirational figure in racing and Irish society. May he rest in peace. Our thoughts are with Frances and their children Hannah, Paddy & Sarah.

    Gordon Lord Byron died suddenly at exercise this morning. The 12-year-old won 16 races from 108 starts, including Group 1s in England, France and Australia. Our sympathies to the Hogan and Cahalan families. More shortly on the end of a racing fairytale on theirishfield.ie
