I've been suffering from Lyme disease. I'm stepping back from xAI into an informal advisory role so I can go founder mode on my health, starting today. --- The symptoms started when I got sick (cold, flu, or COVID -- I'm not sure which) in early 2025. I distinctly felt less

caught someone cheating in my interview today, for the first time (that I know of) I wasn't even mad. Just very curious how do people cheat in interviews these days So we had a nice chat at the end where they taught me all the tricks. The most surprising thing: a rando Chinese

Finally launched x.ai! The mathematics of deep learning is profound, beautiful, and unreasonably effective. Developing the "theory of everything" for large neural networks will be central to taking AI to the next level. Conversely, this AI will enable everyone

NYC has a considerably lower crime rate than most large American cities. It's also a city of 8+ million where lots of crazy shit happens on a daily basis. I don't blame anyone for being concerned but it's sort of a test for whether you think in terms of narratives or base rates.

Gut health is so critical to brain health that I wouldn't be surprised if America is losing half of its productivity just due to junk food

Grinding on @Grok all night with the @xAI team. Good progress. Will be called Grok 4. Release just after July 4th. Needs one more big run for a specialized coding model.

Since folks are asking: The books I mentioned on @xai spaces are "Linear Algebra Done Right" by Axler and "Naive Set Theory" by Halmos. Other math books that I really enjoyed over the years: "Introduction to Algorithms" by Thomas H. Cormen & Charles E. Leiserson & Ronald L.
