Today (6 June) marks 80 years since D-Day, the largest amphibious landing ever assembled, when 156,000 Allied troops landed by sea and air in Normandy, France.
We thank all those that took part, and remember those who never came home.

John landed in Normandy shortly after D-Day. After this, there was no stopping him.

Sidney Cornell was an amateur boxer in Portsmouth before he joined up. His father was African American. Landed in the early hours of D-Day and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions in Normandy.

Pegasus Bridge is one of the most famous D-Day sites in Normandy.
It was probably the first location to be liberated, in the initial minutes of 6 June 1944.
