Flew out to the Amazon today to interview some indigenous shaman about a local tree that they say has attained enlightenment. Hearing some fascinating stories and being shown some mind blowing things. The world is a magical place.

Yesterday, girlfriend asked me to come into a GPs appointment with her to witness the level of gaslighting she gets from doctors. She reported standard symptoms of sleep apnea, and asked if there were tests for this. He said it’s *impossible* to get sleep apnea if you are under

Reddit is so horrifying bc you can go to a sub for people with health problems and see tons of people desperate for help, strategizing on how to be taken seriously, and then you go to a doctor sub and it's full of professionals talking about hysterical women and blue hair.

All addiction, at its heart, is addiction to unconsciousness. It doesn’t matter if it’s social media addiction or heroin addiction. The addict is always trying to block out consciousness by covering it in stimulation or numbness. This means the cure to addiction is always more

I see a strong link between procrastination and what I call "tensing style." When doing a task, we can either tense into it or relax into it. Many people force themselves to do productive things with a kind of mental & bodily tensing motion. When we build a habit of tensing

A wise man once told me that suicidal impulses are rarely wrong. They just shouldn’t be taken literally. They draw attention to a part of us that needs to die, not the entire organism. Learning how to let parts of ourself die is actually a way to embrace life, not reject it.

Even if that were true, it doesn’t justify a medical professional giving medical misinformation. Either way, I think we’d have been happy with any attempt to investigate the underlying issue rather than just definitively dismissing it as anxiety without any tests. Keep in mind

Think how many women get to this state of exasperation that you describe as hysteria by spending a lifetime not being taken seriously for basic physical complaints. But putting that to one side, these people are supposed to be professionals. I think the least you can ask from a

In Tibetan psychology, every “negative emotion” is said to contain its own wisdom when awakened. The awakened form of anger is mirror-like clarity. The awakened form of jealousy is the wisdom that drives purposeful action. The awakened form of arrogance is equanimity. The

The emotions you most resist are the ones that will set you free. Feeling your fear → Dissolves chronic anxiety Feeling your sadness → Unlocks vitality Feeling your anger → Transforms depression Here's a breakdown of what I teach my CEO clients about emotions:

Hate to break your heart, but there is no real meaning to waking life. Waking life is random neural firings. Your brain makes up a story to make sense of it - using memories, experiences, fears, concerns, etc. Waking life has functions (memory, threat simulation, etc.) but no

We are a singing species. Pretty much every other culture from history had a regular container for community to come together and sing. Singing appears second only to eating, sleeping and sex in the history of what humans give importance to. Yet now it is at best a niche

I have and I’ve concluded that even if i accept your premise to be true, if this leads a doctor to casually give out false medical information then they themselves are far too hysterical to be practicing medicine

Low energy people are often people who are out of touch with their anger. From a biological perspective, anger is one of the most powerful ways to mobilize energy. Anger causes us to release adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol, which results in a surge of physical energy
