Change Your Life in 10 Minutes I had the distinct honor of giving the keynote address for the Gift of Giving Gala at the University of Maryland, which is a scholarship banquet for Black students. This keynote is a must watch. Click Here to Watch youtu.be/IdLYsG-IBbY

Police run up in Black people’s houses for weed but couldn’t check out the bombers house after his girlfriend reported him making bombs. Sums up our criminal justice system. #DomesticTerrorism #nashvillebombing

What if the #GeorgeFloyd video didn’t exist? Imagine how much more stereotypical tropes about fear & threat would be discussed? Black people shouldn’t have to perfect to not be killed by police. Black people shouldn’t need a video & a dozen witnesses to be believed & humanized

When @lizzo comes on at the school field trip to the skating rink, all the kids stop skating and cheer in front of the large projector screen like they are at an actual Lizzie concert. Wow. Impact of Lizzo on Fleek Parents in amazement

#EmmettTill is younger that my grandmother who is still living. When people say the past was a long time ago, it really isn’t. The past is very much the present and my grandkids will use #GeorgeFloyd and me to make this same statement.

#EmmettTill would have been 79 today. Imagine the life he could be living. A light in the world? A vessel of love for his family? We must never forget that racism destroys and dehumanizes; and often fuels vicious deaths. It is not mere disagreement. We remember you always, king.

Kids should not have to apologize for not intervening while watching a police officer murder someone in broad daylight.

"There have been nights where I’ve stayed up apologizing to George Floyd for not doing more," says Darnella Frazier through tears in court. I can't imagine. She was the eyewitness who filmed the now infamous cell phone video of Derek Chauvin's knee on the neck of George Floyd.

Is this a pathway to racial justice? I’m unsure... as of now it’s simply symbolism without policy But, it is very American than a Black girl goes to visit the president because her dad was murdered by the police.

As a professor at the University of Maryland, I am deeply troubled about the random, but not random deaths of students. . 1) Hate crime murder 2) Football player collapses while on field 3) Student, who had chron’s disease, died from a serious illness after her dorm had mold

Research shows that Blacks and Whites have similar spending habits, but Blacks have less money to spend. A larger share of their income goes to housing and food. Low-income mothers are actually more frugal with their money, which debunks stereotypes about so-called welfare queens
