Ukrainians remember the Holodomor — a man-made famine of 1932-33 caused by the policies of Stalinist regime. The Soviet authorities took away grain and food from the peasants, organized mass terror and continued grain export and requisitions even after the famine began. 🧵1/4

In the year go, major powers assumed that Ukraine falls within 3 weeks. But year go and Ukraine resists. The lack of knowledge about Ukraine prevented most of the observers from understanding that this is a war of imperial aggression and that Ukrainians will resist. (1/14)
