This is one of the worst aspects of our railway. Our job is to get people & things where they need to be. This lady can’t get to her daughter thru no fault of her own & we punish her?? This is NOT the way to run a railway

This kind of thing boils my blood. If you’ve been involved in delays on the WCML this afternoon it’s because some people threw bricks at trains causing a fall blowout on this freight train. That could’ve been me or my colleagues sat there. What possesses people?? Fuming 😡 😡

Is anyone else noticing these witness marks that are now appearing on Crossrail platforms?

Why yes, I have come for a ride for the 1st time on Britain’s cutest train. Also Europe’s shortest branch line & also one of Britain’s steepest. The Parry People Mover. It moves me… #TrainLife #Stourbridge #TrainTravel
WMR Parry People Mover 139002 does the honours with the Stourbridge shuttle from Junction to Town. It’s Britain’s cutest train! Passengers board as they’re tickets are inspected by the guard-cum-driver (there two, one for each direction).
What a ridiculous contraption. I think we should have them everywhere. 139002 is seen on platform 1, in WMR purple livery, waiting to depart for Stourbridge Town
View behind the driver and you can see along the track ahead! Great fun. In here, it very much feels like a bus but it’s also a train. The bulkhead in front separates the passenger saloon from the driver’s area with some bus doors. The seats also have WMR moquette pattern like its main line fleet
The view looking forward behind the driver for the ride down to Stourbridge Town.

    1) Britain isn’t that small 2) Britain is a similar shape to Italy and Italy has a very good high speed rail system 3) Belgium, Netherlands & Taiwan are “small” and have high speed lines

Bad take. If the UK is too small for high speed rail it should definitely be too small for domestic flights but there are loads of those. HS2 is something that can replace them.

Absolutely extraordinary effort from @networkrailwest colleagues to get the line between Didcot & Oxford open as Nuneham Viaduct is now open for traffic. A special timetable will be in place before normal working full resumes, including all the diverted freight 👏 👏 👏

One key feature of the Dolderbahn is these moving switches on the passing loop. No crossings, just switching of the rails & rack rail!! Quite bizarre to see the pway just end at the passing loop.

Absolutely bizarre behaviour to get blocked by this one because they decided to lie about reality. When there’s a direct train taking 6 hours from London to Barcelona. Let me know…

This is impressively wrong because: No - Crewe, Preston & Carlisle need major works to fit 400m trains 400m trains could only get to Crewe/Preston with Phase 2A/B Lack of capacity also means no space for other trains like freight on existing WCML Amazing he doesn’t get this

The report is dishonest in many ways. It claims a capacity crisis on the WCML because "beyond Birmingham....the WCML infrastructure is only able to accommodate 200m trains." Not true: the plan always was to run 400m trains on the classic line, both to Manc and Scotland.

Piffle The most expensive bit is Birmingham to Euston. You “save money” i.e. make the project worthwhile, by delivering it in full, to Euston, Manchester, Preston and Leeds with improvements north of Preston for a sub 2 hour journey to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Gold-plated HS2 looks dead. So let’s run the numbers on a bronze-plated design | Nils Pratley: Savings from a curvier, less fast line need serious consideration as it would be a colossal waste to stop at Birmingham Everybody,… #HS2 #Railtransport dlvr.it/SwT7vH

There you go. Stupid decision by stupid people. And don’t be fooled. There’ll be no re-allocation of funds. You can’t reallocate money that doesn’t exist. This will just cost us more, manyfold, for years to come

I am told the PM has now taken the decision to shelve the Manchester leg of HS2. Confirmation, and detail of the re-allocation of funds to other transport projects in the north, will presumably come very soon.
