Highlights from the Youth and Culture Summit in the #COP16Colombia Green Zone: 400+ representatives united to present a collective manifesto with recommendations for implementing the #KMGBF, paving the way to COP 17 and the 2030 Agenda.

It was an honour to meet His Excellency @petrogustavo, President of the Republic of Colombia, at the ceremonial opening of #COP16Colombia. With his support, this @UN Biodiversity Conference #COP16Colombia will see unprecedented high-level mobilization for #PeaceWithNature.

Land Day at #COP16Riyadh opened with a panel on synergies among the Rio Conventions. We agreed that artificial silos often conceal a seminal fact: action on land, biodiversity, climate, water and ocean is part of the same continuum and must be pursued as such. #PeaceWithNature

#COP16Riyadh addressed land and drought issues as part of the planetary crisis, highlighting linkages with climate change and biodiversity loss, and with food security, forced migration and global stability. Let us strengthen synergistic action to achieve #PeaceWithNature.

The message that @s_guilbeault and @susanamuhamad sent yesterday from Montreal is clear: we need accelerated action ahead of #COP16Colombia, momentum to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework & transformative whole-of-society steps to make peace with nature.

On my first visit to Colombia as Executive Secretary I observed firsthand the commitment of the Host Country's government, regional authorities & people to a #COP16Colombia that delivers for nature and for people. Expect the widest public participation in @UNBiodiversity history.

On 27 Aug in Bogota @SchomakerAstrid spoke at a press conference alongside @LuisGMurillo @susanamuhamad commending commitment to making #COP16Colombia a biodiversity summit the🌏 is looking forward to. The COP 16 theme chimes with @antonioguterres call to make peace with nature.

At #COP16Colombia, Parties are considering a work programme under Article 8(j) and an arrangement that elevates the role of indigenous peoples and local communities in @UNBiodiversity work. Thank you @hindououmar for your support. We value our cooperation with @UN4Indigenous

At #IPBES11 closing I reiterated the importance of @IPBES’ work for the required surge of implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework #KMGBF. I urged @IPBES members to ensure that the 2nd Global Assessment provide a clear picture of progress against the #KMGBF targets.

At #IPBES11, IPBES Chair @dobura highlights the important contributions of IPBES11, thanks all delegates and participants for their hard work and commitment, and gavels the meeting to a close.

Grateful to Ms. Tara Shannon, Assistant Deputy Minister @WCS_Canada, who reiterated Canada's support to @UNBiodiversity and to progress at #COP16Colombia. We need the spirit of the "Montreal Moment" that delivered the #KMGBF to get negotiations across the finish line in Cali.
