I am elected to act in what I believe is in the best interests of my constituents. I have had the whip taken away from me. However there are critical times when you have to do what is right, no matter what the personal consequences. It is hard I won't pretend it isn't.

They say politicians are in it for themselves, not the country. Well these MPs just got themselves fired to save the country. @PhilipHammondUK @DavidGauke Dom Grieve @oletwinofficial Ken Clarke @JustineGreening @RoryStewartUK @BrineMP @AlistairBurtUK @AnneMilton @RichardBenyonMP

The reason we are having an explosion of small boats is after #brexit the Dublin convention no longer applies. Under that convention we could return any migrants back to France. Once we left that no longer applied meaning less control of our borders not more. #projectreality

I am so pleased I left the Conservative party when I did. What an awful day for accountability and probity. #markingtheirownhomework.

Can someone tell me if someone has a Ukrainian passport why they can’t just be let into the UK and given a visa later?

I am currently in Europe and I can report that our Prime Minister is turning our country into a laughingstock.

Conservative Party has been split since the referendum. What the country and public are seeing is the ERG in action.#projectreality is now happening at a huge cost to the UK. It’s always everyone else’s fault and the ERG will always blame others for consequences of their actions

Just a quick reminder of what Boris Johnson said to Conservative 1 Nation MPs when he was seeking their support #Prorogation

I am being inundated with furious emails from constituents about the prorogation of Parliament. The proposal is an affront to democratic accountability at a time when the new PM should be happy to be scrutinised by elected MPs

These will be my guiding principles as they have been consistently since my election. My constituents know I have always put their interests above my career prospects

There is real anger about the breach of the rules by @10DowningStreet Peter Bone on #newsnight claiming people aren’t angry about it is out of touch. What do my Cheshire followers think? Didn’t hug my Mum for a year during my cancer treatment as we stuck to rules

I am afraid todays vote of confidence and the reasons for it we’re all deeply predictable as the 21 MPs who had the whip removed well know. A PM prepared to prorogue Parliament was always a charlatan and a man of dishonour and the consequences of his disastrous “oven ready” deal
