- Fred Dean has died at 68, from coronavirus. The 49ers acquired him from San Diego in 1981 and won the Super Bowl (and another in 1984). The Hall of Famer was known to enjoy a cigarette before he played a hellacious game or endured a long training camp practice in Rocklin.
- Aaron Rodgers purchased & donated 375 helmets to Chico High, Paradise High & his alma mater of Pleasant Valley High. The VICIS ZERO1 helmets are top-rated hats, according to the NFL/NFLPA labortory tests. Kudos to the QB who says of his roots, "Those kids deserve the best."
- My dad wasn’t a sports fantastic but he was sporty good fun. Taught us 6 kids how to sail, swim, ski, row, hike and to chase adventure. When I wrote stories, he’d challenge me, “tell me about the people!” He died today, a good man who lived a great life, loved by many.
- Sad news for @Raiders and @raiderfans everywhere - Willie Brown has died. A Hall of Famer who then became a longtime Raiders assistant coach. Had 75-yard interception return for a touchdown in Super Bowl XI w Bill King narrating, "Old man Willie! Touchdown Raiders!" He was 78.
- Sad to hear of passing of Patty Thompson, mother of @ShaqThompson_7 - the driving force for Shaq to succeed as he grew up in Sacramento, and why he was such a giver, polite, caring. She died Sunday at home watching Shaq play. Once told me, “my boys are my joy.” Patty pic: Fox40

- We have a terrific update about Trevor Loveall of Capital Christian HS in Sacramento. He is awake, eating and in good spirits - and rooting for his guys in their season opener. Trevor collapsed early in a recent scrimmage and had been in ICU. Bless his good heart. Photo is from
- Au’Diese Toney, an all-time defender at Arkansas, had a workout with the Kings today. He’s 6-7. He’s also as good of a defender Razorbacks and longtime coach Eric Musselman said he has coached. These guys make NBA teams struggling to defend a bit better.
- Memorial service for Spencer Webb, the @BrothersVarsity and @oregonfootball Star best known for his personality and never forgetting his roots. A delightful guy, a terrific player.
- Hate to see it @FolsomBulldogFB star Walker Lyons suffers a broken right leg. Stadium is silent. A crushing blow for a young man who's worked so hard to be great. A fine student/teammate. Headed to Stanford via scholarship but his season is over. Waves to crowd from stretcher.
- Big news for regional football on all levels Kris Richardson is leaving @FolsomBulldogFB to join coach Troy Taylor at Sacramento State. Will track details and include whom else might be joining Taylor's staff. Kris & Troy worked wonders at Folsom and aim to do so at Sac State
