Burglars cut a hole in the roof Best Buy at 1173 Simi Town Center Way and used a ladder to get down into the store where they stole $93,000 worth of Apple brand products, SVPD says. The incident happened at just before 3 a.m. today.

GOOD NEWS: Bob Belanger, the crossing guard who was struck by an SUV on Royal Ave 10/12 after he placed himself in harm's way to save a pedestrian, has been out of his coma for 2 weeks, he’s now talking and his progress is "incredible," Simi City Manager @SamanthaArgabri said.

Steve Shorts, who is currently serving as interim chief @SimiValleyPD was selected as the new chief of police for the department. His appointment will take effect Monday, City Manager Brian Gabler said. "I’m super excited," Shorts told the Acorn.

VCSO detectives seized 124 grams of cocaine and 98 grams of methamphetamine from a home in Simi Valley. The drugs were hidden in a bedroom, which, police say, Hector Garcia, 43, shared with his 11-year-old son in an apartment on Patricia Ave., authorities said in a news release.

Today we remember the 25 people killed and more than 130 others injured 15 years ago on Sept. 12 when a Metrolink train collided at 4:22 p.m. with a Union Pacific freight train in Chatsworth. Among those killed, 10 from Simi, 4 from Moorpark, 3 from Camarillo, and 2 from T.O.
