Finally, after 6 years of trying. £80k worth of IVF (emptying savings & fam support). 9 rounds of injections, transfers & trauma. Failure & 2 miscarriages. 1 amazing donor. A 35 week emergency c-section. We got a double rainbow! Florence & Felicity Beale born 24/2/22. 1/4

And of course, a huge thanks to the @NHSMillion. Despite not being able to provide us with free rounds of IVF, The care we have received from scan to c-section & discharge had been amazing. The #NHS is our crown jewel and should always be defended, even when it needs improvement.

We have known terrible loss on our fertility journey and there were lots of times I had resigned myself to things not working. The truth is that without science, the kindness of family & strangers and a huge dose of pure luck this would not have happened. 2/4

Last, Painfully aware that at the same time joy was coming into our lives, it was leaving others. Images and videos from Ukraine showed the fortune my two girls have of where they were born on Thursday. I’ve donated to @UNICEF to help get support to those babies that need it. 4/4

I am always available to talk to individuals or couples about what we did and how tough it is to be the couple without kids, when everyone you know seems to find it easy to get pregnant, or has to deal with awkward questions & assumptions. Fertility issues should not be taboo 3/4

Some year 12 students have kept up with the “folding frenzy” revision technique we do at GCSE. Notes, mind map, keywords then images. It can then be used for lots of low stakes testing.

We had a miscarriage at 10 weeks last September. Our best success with (9 tries of) IVF. This week would have been our due date and it’s brought it all back. Pain, anger, tiredness and yearning combined in a unique way. But like many, we will put on a brave face and endure.

Wow! Thank-you so much for the love & support. Particularly to those sharing their own stories either in the thread or by DM. It’s been a reminder that people are fundamentally good and kind. Florence & Felicity are going to be blown away when I tell them about this one day.

It’s 12:30 on the last day of term and I am making calls to parents informing them that their child has to self isolate. I am their grinch, effectively stealing their Christmas from them. Most have been understanding. This could have been avoided...

I am really worried that teachers are throwing themselves into totally live timetables (potentially mandated by SLT) for 5 periods a day and that this is going to lead to a huge burnout later in the 1/2 term.

As I see more and more teachers share photos of their “remote learning set up” it’s clear that there is a huge digital gulf between teachers as well. Some with multiple screens/tablets/visualisers and others working of their phone.
