It's because they're often written as historical documents. Lineage was often a very important aspect of jewish culture so therefore it would be very unwise to not include it in historical documentation

3! Of people ive known 4 of 6 marriages ended with divorce and 3 were a cheating woman! Not to mention how many failed engagements ive seen. The worst part is about how nasty the women were after cheating. Stealing money, leaving, affairs with multiple men, just bleak stuff.
