Hi Ian, I’ve been teaching in state schools for 15 years and my experience is that the former is a pre-requisite for the latter. A great many children have been failed by romantic dichotomisations such as you seem to be expressing in this tweet.
Love my tippex mouse and visualiser for following up after practice questions- we model how to answer the questions students got wrong, then take a blank copy of the paper, tippex and change the values, students practise again. Super-useful and zero prep #winning#cogscisci
