Ben Roethlisberger on doctor visit Friday: "It was a good report. I got to bypass the tennis ball throwing for a month and go right to the football. Still going to be about 2.5-3 months until I get total clearance from doc but we are doing good!

I don’t tweet much, but I couldn’t let this go. I had a great time/dinner tonight in Naples with my old partner, @JoeStarkey1, and his wonderful family. I don’t miss work, but I miss him. I am honored to call him my friend.

A Ben Roethlisberger update: He will see his doctors in LA Feb. 21 and hopes to get clearance to start throwing tennis balls and other light objects. He remains confident he will be ready for the Steelers' offseason work in May. Roethlisberger had elbow surgery Sept. 23.

I bet I received 1,000 texts of sympathy about my mom's passing, many from those who don't like me or my opinions. Too many to thank individually. I read/appreciate each text. I don't usually have much use for the hate on Twitter, but it was beautiful for me this time. Thank you.

A year ago today, I lost my mother, Ruth. I still want to call her three times a day like I always did. I miss her every day. I loved her so much, If you are lucky enough to still have your mom, give her an extra hug. You will never have a better friend.

Ben Roethlisberger on throwing a football Saturday for the first time since his elbow surgery: "It felt amazing to throw. It was hard to hold the smile in. 2 more throwing sessions while I’m out here in California and then headed back to the burgh."

Today is my mom's 96th birthday. My daughter Taylor and I are so blessed to still have her in our life. She still is strong, sharp and independent. Happy Birthday, Ruth Cook! Here's hoping you have many more healthy, happy birthdays. You are loved more than you know.

Sad news. Bruno Sammartino has passed at 82. One of Pittsburgh’s all-time great sportsmen and great people. Rest In Peace, Bruno.

One more thing about Craig Wolfley. Nothing ever shook his faith in God. Not losing Tunch Ilkin, his best friend. Not losing his brother. Nothing. He absolutely, truly believed he would see both in heaven. But why does that reunion have to be so soon?
