The image features a bold text announcement stating "Breaking news: The government has committed to reforming the Mental Health Act," over a solid blue background with the Rethink Mental Illness logo at the bottom right.

#BlueMonday is a PR campaign created by a travel company to sell more holidays. πŸ›« People living with mental illness experience symptoms all year round, so it’s absurd to suggest that someone’s illness will be worse on a specific day.

πŸ—£οΈ On #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, a reminder that words matter.
Text on a blue background reads, "Please do not say: 'Committed suicide' Here's why..." with the logo of Rethink Mental Illness at the bottom right corner.
Text graphic by Rethink Mental Illness stating 'The word β€œcommitted” is outdated and suggests suicide is a crime and suicidal thoughts are a sin.'
Text on image promoting mental health awareness by Rethink Mental Illness. It reads: "In fact, suicidal thoughts are common, hugely complex and can happen to anyone. Suggesting they are a sin can add to stigma and fear of talking about them." The text is set against a solid blue background.
Blue background with words in the middle which say: People have autonomy over their decisions. Removing that autonomy and demonizing certain thoughts helps no one. An alternative phrase to use could be: "Took their own life".

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 The government has announced this afternoon that a White Paper will be published next week to reform the Mental Health Act. This should bring about much needed & long argued for change, which is great news for those of us severely affected by mental illness.

🚨 #BlueMonday is just a PR campaign made up to encourage people to buy flights. It might feel like there's lots of things to be worried about right now, but a random Monday in January is not one of them. πŸ’™ However you're feeling today, we're here for you.

Words in the middle read:
"Blue Monday is a myth. Depression and low mood affects people all year round, not just a random Monday in January."
