Eric Ravilious was killed #OTD in 1942 when the aircraft he was in during a search & rescue mission off Iceland failed to return. From the countryside to war, his depiction of Britain in the 30s & early years of #WW2 remain an incredible legacy, decades after his death.

I love this winter landscape by artist Vanessa Bowman. I heard the owl in the woods near me the other evening. The little things the natural worlds gives us, that make us smile.

Anxious news tonight, and all our journeys continue. The work of Eric Ravilious will still be here for you every day, I promise. Believe me, it’s a little light in the dark for me, which I love to share with you all. Take care, friends.

Woken up to snow again in Yorkshire, so a good excuse for that wondrous 1930s Ravilious wood-engraving of a snow scene.

We went past 30K followers last night: staggering, amazing, humbling. I started this as a personal way to catalogue Eric Ravilious’ work but gosh hasn’t it been wonderful to find so many of you who take great joy from his legacy too; beauty in times of darkness. Thank you all!
