Remember, critics had NOTHING to do with the cancellation of THE ACOLYTE. Only analytics, metrics, corporate interests and most of all, viewership did. The show failed because it betrayed the brand, and put an agenda before legacy, characters, and sincere storytelling.
A friend saw @JamesGunn's SUPERMAN today. He said it's 180 degrees away from @ZackSnyder's vision. He told me A LOT of things...probably too much. He said the trailers have been a bit of a misdirect. But the most important thing was...he really, really liked it.
So, my buddy in distribution saw FANTASTIC FOUR today. Loved it. The film is completely self-contained in its own universe. The opening ten minutes will leave comic readers with a huge smile on their faces. All the cast were great, and he reluctantly admitted Pedro IS Reed.
As I suspected, @JamesGunn’s SUPERMAN leans heavily into the fantastical…and looks to be both wildly fun and terrifically entertaining. It also leans into the Universe in ways never seen before on film or television. I’ll lay it down right here…it’s gonna’ make a billion.
Goodbye, @JonSchnepp. You were the best kind of friend. You inspired me, delighted me, educated me, and allowed me into your world. I hope tonight, you’ll be drinking with Jack Kirby. “The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.”
DUNE 2 is the realization of everything I've ever dreamed genre filmmaking can accomplish. Not since I was 10 years old and witnessed STAR WARS during its opening weekend have a felt this way about a motion picture. Proof positive that filmmakers can still conjure up magic.
Jeremy Johns has been reviewing movies for the better part of a decade. AM I A RACIST was the fourth highest grossing movie at the domestic box office on September 15th. Why WOULDN'T a professional movie reviewer review the film...? To NOT review it is unprofessional.
