Our members are devastated by the passing of our beloved friend and trusted colleague Sekou Smith. He was a kind, caring person and a tremendous journalist. We love you, Sekou. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his co-workers at Turner Sports.

The PBWA has released the following statement:
The PBWA is extremely disappointed by the refusal of several New York Liberty players to speak with the media following Game 4 of the WNBA Finals. It not only undermined both the letter and spirit of league rules (as agreed to by the WNBPA), but adversely impacted efforts to capture a critical moment in league history.

Moreover, we’re concerned that this incident is part of a broader, growing disconnect between the WNBA, its players and the professional journalists who dedicate themselves to telling the stories of this league.

We at the PBWA hope this moment can serve as the starting point for a renewed dialogue between our members, league officials and the WNBPA.
