Land-use reform is the right thing from every perspective. A 🧵. In terms of cost-of-living, plentiful and cheap housing would make a massive improvement to household finances and quality of life.

During COVID, central London rents fell dramatically. This was, obviously, because landlords became less greedy and decided to put aside their evil ways, and unrelated to the sudden reversal of the supply/demand imbalance forcing landlords to compete for tenants.

I have a similar problem. Sunlight bounces off my garden and is absorbed by my neighbours' retinas, letting them "see" my plants. How do I sue for the return of my photons?

French is a practical joke. They all speak English when they go home. Obviously, there's a limit to how far you'll go with a practical joke, so the fake language naturally lacks certain obvious concepts - le bigfoot, le weekend, etc. You just caught her out.

Henry V's small army of longbowmen routs the Community Planning Alliance at Agincourt. The French knights were known as "Nimbés" for the shrouds they wore over their armour. Notable casualties included Theresa Villiers and Simon de Jenkins.

Many years ago, new to management, I had to write up a probationary hire. Whenever she couldn't fix a bug, she broke down crying, and someone else had to step in. This fact was removed from her assessment as "stereotypical" and "potentially sexist." I learned my lesson.

Six months ago, the Tories doubled compensation for MPs who lose their seats to £17,300, whether they stand for re-election or not. Is £3000 for Waspi women really that unreasonable?
