I agree and disagree :). I do agree that our goal, true dream, should be OOD. At the same time, even in domain is hugely useful. In science, there is a lot to be discovered simply by interpolation. E.g. I could easily imagine inventing novel drugs by by stitching up the existing

Simply retrieving a reasoning trace looks a lot like human reasoning, until it's time to navigate uncharted territory. If you memorized all reasoning traces of humans from 10,000 BC, you could automate their lives but you could not invent modern civilization.
