Sunday, July 5, 2026 ⸻ Torrential downpours could cause flash flooding this evening. Keep on top of changing weather conditions. Have at least two reliable ways to get alerts. 🤳 Charge up devices now, if you can. 📲 Think about what you'd need if you had to leave quickly,

Barricades and barriers protect you and first responders. Do not drive around them. Turn around, don't drown.

Another round of heavy showers & thunderstorms beginning late this afternoon into this evening could bring additional instances of flash flooding, especially in flood prone/urban areas. A Flood Watch is in effect for central and northern portions of our forecast area.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms beginning late this afternoon into this evening could bring both flash flooding and severe weather. Additional flash flooding is possible Monday.

The intensity and length of the extreme heat will enhance impacts to both people and infrastructure. This is not the kind of heat event we see every year, and could be the hottest period of weather the area has experienced in over a decade. The heat will be especially dangerous to the young, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations.

Scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging winds will be possible today and Sunday, mainly each late afternoon and evening

There is increasing confidence in the potential for flash flooding today, but especially Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.

Still dealing with power loss in this heat? Safety tips that could help: - Consider going somewhere with a/c to cool off 🛒 - Call 211 for cooling shelters/other resources 🤳 - The lowest level of your home will be coolest 👇 - Drink lots of water 🥤 - An unopened refrigerator
Power loss in hot weather. Places I can go to keep cool: the library, shopping mall, grocery store, public pool, cooling shelter. Pro tips: Call 211 to get connected to shelters and otehr resources. At home, lowest level will be coolest. Unopened refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. Full freezer will keep the temp for about 48 hours.

If you lost power and are running a generator, keep it outdoors — at least 20 feet away from windows, doors, and attached garages.

More severe weather is possible today. Be ready for winds and heavy rain. 🌬️⛈️
High winds: Secure outdoor items like trash cans, furniture, and decor. Don't burn. Winds can carry flames and start brush fires. Report power outages ASAP. Report downed power lines and don't go near them. Downpours: Stay weather aware. Have at least two ways to get alerts. Watch for flash flooding. Never drive into standing water. Travel with caution. Slow down, turn on lights, and give cars ahead space.

Drowning is quiet. Keep an eye on kids near water. If a child goes missing, check the water FIRST. 🌊👀
