I remember being in the "I hate smalltalk" camp well enough that I think there's a here here that just needs to be better expressed. Sometimes could be perhaps as simple as "I hate smalltalk that fails to allow a followup topic I'd like to go into"?

alright, here is the bird's eye snapshot of my bigass chart of all my ~105 mutuals; arranged according to who are also mutuals with each other. region color assignment was basically randomly seeded, line colors b/w regions are mostly projected from big users or dense clusters

on the desktop of an old laptop I have a folder titled "also not porn" and it contains some lecture slides or something boring like that that had been previously accumulating on my desktop. the story of how it got that name is left as an exercise for the reader

low-N anecdotally, it seems easier to get a woman to agree that she does not understand a particular man's interiority, than that she does not understand that of "men" as an aggregate or ideal. this at least seems preferrable to the opposite

Subtler error modes too: I grew up familiar with this advice, eventually finally found a relationship and it was not that hard, and took this as a sort of a pre-payout promise to still stick into it as it deteriorated to become harder and harder
