    My mum was told something similar. Something along the lines of ‘don’t waste her brain on music. She should be focused on a real career/real job’. Music/classical music/violin playing is BY FAR the most complex thing I have ever tried to do at school.

    “Music is a hobby, it is not a career. It will not be supported by the school. I will not allow children to leave school to take graded exams. We are only supporting children’s learning.” Unacceptable comment from a headteacher. theguardian.com/education/2019…
